Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineering Manager to support our Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) Orbital Operations, Logistics, and Resiliency (WOOLR) program, located at the Schriever SFB in Colorado Springs, CO. In this pivotal role as Systems Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-performing team that is engaged in a key USG space program. By leveraging your expertise and innovative thinking, you will guide your team in identifying inefficiencies, developing robust solutions, and implementing process improvements that enhance productivity and quality ensuring customers’ needs are met. Additionally, you will lead a very capable team in providing sustainment, operational engineering, and anomaly resolution for multiple space vehicles. We are seeking a manager who can establish and maintain customer relationships as well as partnerships with stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. This role not only emphasizes technical and leadership excellence but also champions a culture of continuous improvement, empowering your team to achieve operational excellence and deliver exceptional results in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in Systems Engineering
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implementing policies and procedures
  • Set operational goals and acquire necessary resources for projects and processes
  • Provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, and team members
  • Oversee and approve technical approaches, products, and processes
  • Manage, develop, and motivate employees to achieve high performance
  • Travel up to10% to other sites as necessary

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams and projects
  • 5 years or more of experience designing, developing, testing, operating or sustaining ground/satellite systems (commercial or USG)
  • 3 years working with USG satellite or ground customer teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Nice to have:

  • Experience with standard satellite functions such as command and control, mission planning, mission data processing, orbit management, situational awareness, automation, front end processors, ground antennas, crypto equipment, and terrestrial communication network
  • Experience working with satellite assembly and manufacturing or launch support teams
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly with military or defense programs
  • Knowledge of Boeing's organizational processes, program plans, and policies
  • Demonstrated ability in budget management and business process improvement
  • Familiarity with critical path methodology and project leadership principles
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights
