Job Responsibility:

  • Design, build, and manage end-to-end software deployment workflows using HCL BigFix Software Distribution and BigFix Lifecycle modules
  • Package, test, and deploy enterprise applications in MSI, MSIX, EXE, and script-based formats through BigFix deployment tasks and Fixlets
  • Manage the full software deployment lifecycle — from requirements gathering, packaging, testing, staged rollout, to post-deployment validation
  • Define and enforce deployment standards, naming conventions, and software distribution policies across the enterprise
  • Develop and maintain BigFix Baselines for bundled application deployments and coordinated software rollouts
  • Manage software deployment targeting using BigFix Smart Groups, relevance-based scoping, and deployment ring strategies for controlled rollouts
  • Coordinate application deployments with change management processes, ensuring all deployments follow approved CAB procedures
  • Perform pre- and post-deployment validation using BigFix Interact real-time queries to confirm successful software installation across targeted endpoints
  • Support emergency software deployments and out-of-band distribution requests within defined SLA windows
  • Maintain an up-to-date software catalog within BigFix, ensuring version currency and retirement of obsolete packages
  • Manage software uninstallation, version upgrades, and rollback procedures through BigFix automated tasks
  • Track and report software deployment success rates, failure analysis, and remediation actions through BigFix WebUI dashboards
  • Administer and manage BigFix infrastructure including Root Server, Relay Servers, DSA configurations, and WebUI components
  • Monitor BigFix Relay hierarchy health, replication status, and bandwidth optimization across distributed enterprise sites
  • Manage BigFix client health across the endpoint fleet, ensuring full visibility and agent connectivity for all managed devices
  • Develop custom BigFix Fixlets, Tasks, Baselines, and Analyses using BigFix Relevance Language (BRL) and Action Script
  • Use BigFix Relevance Language to build advanced custom queries for software inventory, deployment targeting, and compliance validation
  • Configure and manage BigFix Software Distribution content, including custom site creation, package uploads, and content synchronization
  • Leverage BigFix Inventory for software asset tracking, license reconciliation, and unauthorized software detection
  • Integrate BigFix with ServiceNow for automated deployment request intake, status updates, and ticket closure workflows
  • Manage BigFix REST API for reporting automation, deployment orchestration, and integration with external platforms
  • Perform BigFix platform upgrades, relay updates, and routine maintenance activities to ensure platform stability
  • Generate custom deployment reports and compliance dashboards using BigFix WebUI, REST API, and SQL-based queries against the BigFix database
  • Collaborate with application packaging teams to validate MSI/MSIX packages meet BigFix deployment standards before production rollout
  • Assist in troubleshooting application packaging issues — MSI transforms, silent install switches, and registry configurations
  • Develop and maintain PSADT and PowerShell-based wrapper scripts for complex application deployments via BigFix
  • Test application deployments across Windows 10/11 reference environments prior to enterprise-wide rollout
  • Maintain deployment documentation including installation guides, known issues, and rollback procedures for all managed applications
  • Develop advanced PowerShell, VBScript, and Batch scripts for deployment automation, pre/post-installation tasks, and endpoint configuration
  • Create BigFix Action Scripts for remote automated software installations, registry modifications, and configuration changes
  • Build automation routines to handle repetitive deployment tasks, improving deployment speed and reducing manual intervention
  • Develop BigFix REST API integrations to automate deployment reporting, compliance tracking, and ITSM ticket management
  • Maintain a library of tested deployment scripts, BigFix packages, and automation runbooks for reuse across the team
  • Coordinate software deployment activities with patch management cycles to ensure aligned maintenance windows and minimal endpoint disruption
  • Support BigFix Patch operations where software deployments intersect with OS and third-party patch remediation
  • Ensure all deployed software meets organizational security and compliance standards, working with security teams on software allowlisting and policy enforcement
  • Use BigFix Comply to validate endpoint compliance post-deployment and identify configuration drift introduced by new software
  • Working knowledge of SCCM / Microsoft Intune for hybrid software deployment scenarios where BigFix coexists with Microsoft tooling
  • Support application deployment troubleshooting in co-managed environments spanning BigFix and Intune/SCCM
  • Provide guidance on software deployment strategy for endpoints outside the primary BigFix management scope
  • Act as L2/L3 escalation point for complex software deployment failures and BigFix platform issues
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application, and service desk teams to drive cross-functional deployment initiatives
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles, deployment SOPs, and runbooks to improve team capability and reduce repeat incidents
  • Participate in problem management activities to identify recurring deployment failures and drive permanent fixes
  • Mentor junior engineers on BigFix platform operations and software deployment best practices
  • Support audit readiness by providing deployment evidence, compliance reports, and software inventory data to internal and external auditors
