Job Description

As a member of Harbinger's Systems Engineering team, you will play an active role in defining system attributes, requirements, and user interface design to provide an intuitive driver experience. You will support vehicle development and test, and software feature definition.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop system requirements for Harbinger’s body systems to meet vehicle targets including exterior lighting, driver information and telltales, wiper/washers, anti-theft and immobilization, and auxiliary power
  • Identify features for infotainment system and develop product roadmap with appropriate milestones, working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, and product management to ensure alignment between customer needs and technical capabilities
  • Contribute to design of user workflows, applying UI-UX principles
  • Develop comprehensive technical specifications based on customer input, considering factors such as usability, performance, and regulatory compliance
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams within Harbinger and external vendors
  • Serve as the voice of the customer within the engineering team, advocating for customer-centric design and solutions
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams and customers to address inquiries, clarify requirements, and resolve issues in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in systems engineering, requirements management, or a customer-facing role within the automotive or consumer electronics industry
  • Familiarity with automotive broad range of automotive body systems
  • Experience with feature benchmarking. Infotainment feature benchmarking preferred
  • Exposure to operating systems such as Linux, QNX, Carplay, Android Automotive
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency in tools and methodologies for requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation (e.g., DOORS, JIRA, UML)
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and systems engineering practices
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities effectively

Nice to have

  • Experience with Functional Safety / ISO26262 is a plus
  • Experience with UI mockup and wireframing is a plus

  • Represent GM in domestic and international standards bodies and technical meetings (e.g., IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.1), including approximately 10–15% travel and quickly developing deep expertise in Ethernet‑based in‑vehicle protocols and IEEE 802 specifications
  • Evaluate and benchmark SoCs/MCUs and memory technologies (CPU cores, accelerators, interconnects, DDR/LPDDR, flash, NVM, cache hierarchies) for latency, throughput, power, cost, and safety/security trade-offs
  • Explore and prototype new compute and communication concepts using FPGAs, evaluation boards, and custom circuitry
  • Contribute to ECU and board-level design concepts
  • Drive low-level software concepts around boot flows, board support packages (BSPs), bare-metal or RTOS-based implementations, device drivers, and hardware abstraction needed for SDV architectures
  • Collaborate closely with GM engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to align semiconductor choices with GM’s long-term architecture, safety, cybersecurity, and cost objectives
