The Systems Configurator is an individual contributor role focused on configuring pre-existing enterprise software (specifically Workjam) to meet complex GM Manufacturing business requirements. Rather than writing custom code, this role centers on application and systems configuration, testing, and continuous improvement to ensure Workjam effectively supports shop-floor operations and broader manufacturing needs.

Job Responsibility

  • Configure the Workjam platform to align with GM Manufacturing business process rules and operational requirements
  • Configure and maintain data-driven integrations from existing source systems (e.g., Workday) and other enterprise platforms
  • Leverage existing master data, organization structures, and user attributes to drive application behavior
  • Configure and maintain security groups, roles, and permissions so users have the appropriate access, views, and capabilities within Workjam
  • Ensure local manufacturing records (e.g., plant-level identifiers, lines, departments, shifts) are correctly utilized within the software
  • Partner with security and compliance stakeholders to align configurations with access control, privacy, and regulatory requirements
  • Design, execute, and document test scenarios to validate configurations, integrations, and new capabilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis for configuration-related issues
  • Provide post-implementation support, including monitoring system performance, validating configuration outcomes, and addressing defects
  • Lead or support the planning and execution of software upgrades
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automate workflows, and improve user experience within Workjam
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date configuration and process documentation
  • Partner with Manufacturing, HR, Operations, and IT stakeholders to understand business processes, requirements, and constraints
  • Communicate configuration changes, impacts, and timelines clearly to plant leadership and other stakeholders
  • Serve as a platform champion, educating users and partners on Workjam capabilities, best practices, and new features

Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in systems configuration, application configuration, enterprise application administration, or a closely related role
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application functionality and features, including: Role-based access and security models
  • Configurable workflows and tasking
  • Data-driven configuration and targeting
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and testing for enterprise systems
  • Ability to translate business processes and operational needs into clear, consistent configuration requirements and user stories
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail in validating data, user access, and end-to-end workflows
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, adapt, and grow into a subject-matter expert on the Workjam platform over time

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Hands-on Workjam software experience, including configuration, administration, or implementation on the platform
  • Experience supporting or configuring systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar HR / Workforce Management systems and their integration patterns with downstream applications
  • Experience with change management, including documenting changes, participating in CAB (Change Advisory Board) discussions, and ensuring appropriate approvals and communication
  • Curious and proactive, with a strong desire to deepen expertise in the Workjam platform and related GM Manufacturing processes
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hybrid environment, balancing on-site collaboration with remote work
  • Organized and disciplined in documenting work, following standards, and adhering to governance processes
