Our client, a respected national industry training organisation, is seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator to join their small, well-functioning team in a newly created position to support the existing Systems Administrator. This is an opportunity to be a critical partner, ensuring the stability and integrity of all digital infrastructure with a primary mandate to significantly enhance the organisation’s cybersecurity posture. Location & Flexibility: Based in the Wellington CBD office, this role requires you on-site 4 days per week, with 1 day per week working from home.
Job Responsibility
Manage the day-to-day operations and optimisation of the organisation’s digital infrastructure
Play a key role in proactively identifying vulnerabilities, reinforcing defensive controls, and contributing to the broader cybersecurity strategy and risk management framework
Conduct security incident investigations and assist with cybersecurity audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities (including supporting alignment with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0)
Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of servers, networks, cloud services, business applications, and end-user systems
Administer and support Azure and AWS cloud platforms, Windows/Linux server environments, and key Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, and Entra ID)
Manage system upgrades, patching, disaster recovery, monitor infrastructure performance, and identify opportunities for automation
Provide Level 2/3 technical support to staff and stakeholders, maintaining endpoint protection, access controls, and email security tools
Requirements
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices
Proven experience in incident response, threat analysis, and risk management
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows/Linux, Azure, Active Directory, networking, and endpoint management
Advanced troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and provide excellent customer service

Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL, Azure, AWS)
