Job Description

We are seeking a System Safety Engineer to support system and software safety analysis, requirements development, and safety compliance activities for complex defense‑related systems. This role involves working with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure safety engineering tasks are completed in accordance with industry and government standards. The ideal candidate brings experience in System Safety Engineering, Anti‑Tamper, cybersecurity, or embedded safety‑related fields, along with strong analytical and documentation skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Support system safety engineering activities across hardware, software, and embedded systems
  • Apply system safety methodologies to identify, analyze, and mitigate hazards throughout the engineering lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain system safety documentation, including analyses, assessments, and required reports
  • Collaborate with systems, software, electrical, and firmware engineering teams to ensure safety requirements are implemented and verified
  • Contribute to requirements development, traceability, and validation
  • Support safety reviews and participate in engineering change, analysis, and review boards
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of safety plans, including verification methods and compliance documentation
  • Work in an onsite, collaborative environment supporting multidisciplinary technical teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following: System Safety Engineering
  • Systems Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Electrical or Firmware Engineering
  • Cybersecurity or Anti‑Tamper analysis
  • Reverse engineering of technologies
  • Ability to interpret engineering requirements, safety standards, and technical documentation
  • Active Secret clearance required at start

Nice to have

  • Experience with DoD safety standards such as: MIL‑STD‑882 (System Safety)
  • DO‑178 (Software Safety/SW Airworthiness)
  • Experience applying safety engineering within Agile development environments
