We are seeking a System Engineering Specialist to design, deploy, maintain, and optimise cloud environments that support Vodafone’s applications. The individual will work within the Cloud Development sub‑department, collaborating with Dev and DevOps teams to ensure the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of AWS‑based infrastructures. The role is based in Iași, Romania, and involves supporting microservices deployments, maintaining Kubernetes environments, and ensuring seamless technical communication across teams.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain AWS infrastructure services, including EC2, EKS, CodeCommit, KMS, CloudWatch, and IAM
Manage AWS EKS clusters and their associated resources
Coordinate and oversee deployment of new microservice releases
Collaborate with Dev and DevOps teams to troubleshoot incidents, resolve blockers, and ensure application reliability
Facilitate effective communication between teams involved in the application lifecycle
Continuously assess infrastructure performance and propose enhancements to improve efficiency and cost‑effectiveness
Develop and maintain integration components between current and future applications
Mentor Development and DevOps colleagues to promote best practices in DevOps methodologies
Provide availability for exceptional situations, including night shifts, overtime, or standby when required
Requirements:
Skilled in AWS infrastructure services
Experienced with scripting languages such as Bash and Python
Knowledgeable in CI/CD concepts and tools (Git, GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, FluxCD, ArgoCD)
Experienced with SQL databases (e.g., Oracle)
Familiar with microservices architectures and related methodologies
Competent with monitoring and observability tools including Instana, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, and Dynatrace
Experienced in running applications in cloud and Kubernetes environments
Knowledgeable in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
Strong documentation and communication skills in English
3–5 years of experience in Dev or DevOps environments
Demonstrates compliance with ITIL, SOX, and IT security standards
Experienced working with public cloud infrastructure and business‑critical environments
Able to ensure high reliability (99.9%) for managed applications and deliver work according to agreed timelines
