BorgWarner Technical Center India Private Limited is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer – Feature/Function Owner (FO) for PowerDrive Systems. The Feature Owner is a key role within the Systems Engineering organization, responsible for end‑to‑end technical ownership and accountability of assigned features to ensure performance, maturity, and compliance across the full product development lifecycle. The FO leads feature development within electrified propulsion systems, with strong ownership of system‑level, vehicle‑level, and functional safety impacts. The role requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, partners, and customers, and operates within ASPICE‑compliant development processes while supporting ISO 26262 functional safety objectives. As the BorgWarner technical representative for the assigned feature(s), the FO translates customer needs into robust technical solutions, drives trade‑offs, and ensures delivery aligned with vehicle architecture, safety, quality, cost, and timing constraints.
Job Responsibility:
Own end-to-end technical accountability for feature performance, maturity, and compliance across the product lifecycle
Lead feature-level technical development through the electrified propulsion systems lifecycle (concept, development, integration, validation, and launch)
Develop and maintain the feature development roadmap, aligning deliverables with program and application milestones
Perform feature-level impact analysis for requirement changes and ensure alignment across affected systems, interfaces, and vehicle functions
Coordinate identification, analysis, resolution, and closure of feature-related defects
Understand vehicle architecture and system interactions, including direct and indirect impacts of features on vehicle-level performance, safety, and compliance
Ensure feature integration is robust across mechanical, electrical, software, and controls domains
Conduct and lead technical analyses, trade-off studies, FMEAs, and design reviews at feature and system levels
Act as the BW technical representative for assigned feature(s) toward customers
Understand customer needs, requirements, and use cases, and propose optimized technical solutions and trade-offs
Lead and support customer technical reviews and presentations
Negotiate technical requirements, scope, and subcontract deliverables with internal teams, suppliers, and engineering partners
Execute and support feature development within Automotive SPICE (ASPICE)-aligned systems engineering processes, ensuring traceability, maturity, and compliance
Interpret and cascade ISO 26262 Functional Safety requirements to the product development team, ensuring correct implementation at feature and system levels
Support safety analyses such as feature-related hazards, safety goals, and functional concepts, as applicable
Collaborate across engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to deliver on Systems Engineering commitments
Support the definition and continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methods, and tools
Act as an ambassador for Systems Engineering principles and best practices, including requirements management, traceability, verification, and validation
Promote structured, quality-driven development aligned with BorgWarner standards and customer expectations
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/ Mechanical Discipline
10 to 12 years of work experience in automotive electronics, power electronics/drives or system engineer
Nice to have:
Awareness of or experience in multiple engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, test, software, controls)
Requirements management methods in a structured tool such as Polarion
Change management methods in a structured tool such as JIRA
ASPICE and ISO 26262 experience
Power Electronics hardware and/or software design experience
