BorgWarner Technical Center India Private Limited is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer – System Development Engineer for PowerDrive Systems. The System Development Engineer (SYDE) supports the Feature Owner/System Development Lead in delivering system development work products for automotive electrification features. The role focuses on executing system engineering activities across the V-development lifecycle while ensuring alignment with project, process, and quality requirements.
Job Responsibility
Support the Feature Owner / System Development Lead in the development of system features and functions for Power Drive Systems
Execute assigned system engineering tasks across the V-development lifecycle, from requirements to production support
Develop, update, and maintain system engineering work products such as: System and feature requirements
Interface definions
System architecture inputs
Traceability matrices
Assist the Feature Owner in planning and preparation of system releases by contributing required work products
Support HW, SW, validation, and manufacturing teams by clarifying system requirements and interfaces
Understand communication features (CAN, CAN-FD, FlexRay, LIN) in ECU systems
Participate in system reviews, audits, and assessments under guidance of the Feature Owner
Support issue analysis and problem resolution activities using established engineering and problem-solving methods
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and processes (ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO 21434)
Requirements
5 to 6 years of work experience in automotive electronics, power electronics/drives, or systems engineering
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/ Mechanical Discipline
Good understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals and V-Model development
Hands-on experience working in ASPICE-based or similar process environments
Familiarity with system engineering tools and requirement management tools (e.g., Polarion, DOORS, Jira)
Ability to understand microcontroller-based hardware and system interfaces
Strong documentation, analytical, and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively under guidance of a Feature Owner in a global team setup
4–6 years of experience in automotive systems engineering, electronics, or power electronics/drives
