Job Description:

We are looking for swimming teachers to help us provide the highest quality swimming lessons and aquatic sessions for people of all ages and abilities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adhere to Health and Safety and Brio Leisure Operating Procedures
  • Check teaching environment is suitable and hazard-free
  • Allow time for 'set up' before lessons
  • Ensure safe use and storage of equipment
  • Contribute to prompt timekeeping of daily lesson programme
  • Teach a range of organised aquatic disciplines at appropriate levels
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Swim England 'Learn to Swim' programme
  • Apply the 'Brio Learn 2 Swim Scheme of Work'
  • Deliver swimming lessons in accordance with Swim England programme
  • Assume responsibility of a Level 1 'assistant teacher' where necessary
  • Demonstrate a range of teaching skills
  • Maintain participant weekly attendance registers
  • Update participant achievement records
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Liaise with participants, parents and Aquatics Lead
  • Carry out any other duties as requested

Requirements:

  • SEQ (Swim England Qualified) or equivalent Level 1 and Level 2 swimming teacher qualification
  • Preferably with an NPLQ or NRASTC qualification (not essential)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to deliver the Swim England 'Learn to Swim Programme'
  • Passionate and highly motivated
  • Love of swimming

  • Prepare appropriate lesson plans in line with syllabus to provide high quality lessons as per STA/ASA guidelines
  • Ensure the smooth movement of swimmers within the programme through continuous assessment
  • Ensure the checking (reporting any defects), set up and put away of equipment securely and tidily after the session
  • Supervise the arrival, departure and handover of the lesson promptly and register all attendances
  • Monitor class sizes and unexpected arrivals and alert the Swim Coordinator/Manager at the earliest opportunity of any problems/queries
  • Complete regular Progress Reports using the electronic tablets on each individual swimmer ensuring they are detailed, positive and constructive
  • Ensure effective communication is used at all times and relevant for all swimmers with regular individual feedback

  • Provides leadership, discipline and constructive feedback to Deck Supervisors, Instructors and Deck Teachers to ensure quality delivery of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
  • Conducts periodic evaluations of Deck Supervisors, Instructors and Deck Teachers and holds them to a higher standard
  • Interacts with parents/guardians to discuss student progress
  • Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Conducts weekly audits of the Deck Supervisor Rosters, Deck Supervisor Notes, Training Logs, Pump Room Checklist, Cleaning Checklist and Visual Scheduler
