High school diploma or GED
A minimum of 1 year experience directly relevant to the job responsibilities outlined
Competency in the instructional field. Technical certification may be required based on the instructional specialty (e.g., AFAA, ACE, NETA, NASM, etc.)
Proficiency in applying first aid procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to collaborate effectively within a diverse community
Strong records maintenance skills with the ability to complete routine administrative tasks efficiently
Familiarity with swim training and educational methods
Capability to comprehend, follow, and enforce safety procedures

Job Responsibility

Conduct swim lessons for children ages 3 and above
Structure an hour-long class, which may be adaptable for two groups: 3-5 years and 6 years and above, with each group having a half-hour session
Develop and implement age-appropriate swimming lessons, focusing on water safety and skill development for young learners
Maintain a safe and controlled environment during swim sessions, emphasizing water safety protocols
Evaluate and track individual progress, providing constructive feedback to both children and their guardians regarding skill improvements

Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required
Swimming experience is preferred not required
A valid Lifeguard (CPR, AED and First Aid) certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment

Job Responsibility

Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents
Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner
Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills
Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction
Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter
Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate
Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines
Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork
