The Commercial Products QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of Navico’s commercial products, with a focus on radar and ECDIS software systems. This is a hands-on role in a small team that requires a flexible person who is curious about technology and has a strong interest in maritime systems. Includes development and execution of test plans, support in definition of production requirements and coordination of customer validation activities.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute test plans and cases for Navico’s commercial products, with a focus on radar and ECDIS software solutions
Identify, document, and report defects and issues
Plan and execute testing to meet IMO Wheelmark requirements
Liaise with and coordinate customer validation. Communicate with validators to identify and reproduce issues
Assist Product Manager and Product Experts in replicating field issues and verifying resolutions
Work with the Product manager and Product Development and Engineering team to clarify requirements for new features
Collaborate with other testers and developers across Navico’s global organization to bring in best practices
Participate in team meetings and provide input on testing activities
Conduct positive and negative functional, regression, and performance testing as required
Maintain accurate records of testing activities and outcomes
Communicate with validators to identify and reproduce issues
Able to work independently within the bounds of a wider project
Able to take high level, often vaguely defined tasks and work on them independently and deliver outcome
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in software quality testing or related field
Technical curiosity
High level of expertise in testing techniques
Proficiency with defect testing tools (e.g. TestRail, TestLink, JIRA)
Written and verbal communication skills in the English language
Detailed knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies
Detailed knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Nice to have:
Experience with compliance of IMO Wheelmark systems, especially radar and ECDIS
