Individuals in Risk Assessment & Controls design are responsible for developing, designing, and implementing controls programs, and providing review and guidance on robust controls design adhering to Citi’s Policies, Standards, and Frameworks. Individuals proactively identify and drive controls enhancements such as automation, standardization and rationalization including transformation execution activities. Includes first line activities for identification, measurement (significance and likelihood), and ongoing assessment of key risks and controls in partnership with relevant process owners to drive management decisions to operate within the firm’s Risk Appetite.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the strategic development and continuous enhancement of governance deck content and format for various senior management forums specific to the wealth management business
Define the key messages, data points, and insights required to effectively communicate the state of the wealth control environment, emerging risks, and control performance
Coordinate and collaborate extensively with various stakeholders across the Wealth business, including first line of defense control officers, operational risk, compliance, legal, finance, and technology teams, to gather relevant data and updates
Design and prepare visually compelling and executive-ready presentations that effectively convey complex risk and control information in a clear, concise, and impactful manner
Ensure all presentations adhere to established governance guidelines, branding standards, and regulatory expectations
Draft executive summaries, talking points, and accompanying documentation for presentations
Present governance decks to senior management forums and committees, articulating key findings, risks, control performance, and recommendations with confidence and clarity
Lead discussions, respond to challenging questions from senior leaders, and provide insightful perspectives on the wealth control landscape
Act as a subject matter expert during presentations, demonstrating a deep understanding of the wealth business and its control environment
Implement and maintain comprehensive escalation protocols for identifying, logging, assessing, reporting, and resolving risk events, control deficiencies, operational incidents, and compliance breaches within the wealth management business
Lead and facilitate structured "Lessons Learned" exercises, post-incident reviews, and post-mortem analyses for significant risk events, control breakdowns, audit findings, or operational incidents within wealth management
Provide periodic (e.g. weekly, monthly) updates and key risk indicators on control environment
Ensure all material issues are promptly escalated to senior management, Second Line of Defense (SLOD) Risk and Compliance, Legal, and other relevant stakeholders
Drive root cause analysis for identified issues and oversee the development and implementation of effective corrective and preventative action plans
Monitor the progress of remediation efforts, ensuring timely completion and validation of issue closure
Facilitate clear and concise communication with all parties involved in an escalation, ensuring transparency and accountability
Act as Risk & Controls Team’s Record Management Officer, to ensure that control governance decks and other controls related documents are kept as per Citi’s Record Management standards
Manage Operations Loss, booking, tracking, linked attestations, and actions to be undertaken
Supports Issue and Corrective Action Plan (ICAP) lifecycle, partnering with Issue Management Controls Team, on logging, tracking, and managing all identified regulatory compliance issues, control deficiencies, and audit findings
Oversee the entire issue lifecycle, from initial identification and documentation to root cause analysis, action plan development, implementation, and ultimate closure verification
Collaborate with issue owners and relevant stakeholders to define clear, measurable, and time-bound remediation plans, ensuring accountability and adherence to agreed timelines
Monitor progress of remediation efforts, identify potential roadblocks, and proactively escalate overdue or at-risk items to senior management
Develop and present comprehensive reports on issue status, trends, and risk exposure to various governance committees, ensuring transparency and timely decision-making
Conduct post-implementation reviews to confirm the effectiveness and sustainability of implemented corrective actions
Requirements:
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Risk, Controls, compliance, audit, or other control-related functions in the financial services industry
Demonstrated experience with Escalation and governance protocols, regulatory inventory management and internal control programs
Strong understanding of relevant financial services regulations (e.g., AML, KYC, consumer protection, data privacy, prudential regulations) is highly valued
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory texts, assess their practical implications, and identify root causes of risk
