Job Description:

Citi Equities Technology organization is looking for a senior lead engineer in the APAC Equities Electronic Trading team. The person in this role will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of Citi’s next gen low latency execution platform in APAC. The role will lead a team of developers and work with the product development team, other technology team, production support, and quality assurance. Close alignment with the global strategy is important for this role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design, develop and support of the high-performance electronic execution platform
  • Build common solutions for trading platform monitoring, trade reconciliation, application recovery etc.
  • Lead a productive development team to meet aggressive timeline
  • Partner with traders, quant researchers and clients on product development
  • Continuous maintenance & improvements of the testing frameworks, development tools and environments
  • Ability to envision, design and implement test cases for trading functions
  • Contribute towards Agile and Continuous Integration processes

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with Strong technical knowledge with expertise in either Java, C#, C++
  • Java 11+, Asynchronous programming, microservices architecture and patterns, low latency systems design and implementation
  • Previous experience in developing automated trading platforms
  • Knowledge of Python would be beneficial
  • Strong understanding of automated testing techniques
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration processes
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrable ability to present & grasp complex concepts in a multicultural environment is required
  • Team leadership experience

  • Build and evolve performance-critical C++ components for market data ingestion, normalization, and fan-out
  • Define and enforce platform standards for market data semantics, schemas, and correctness guarantees
  • Engineer the end-to-end wire-to-consumer hot path, with explicit focus on NUMA-aware design, core pinning / CPU isolation, lock-free concurrency, memory layout, and cache locality
  • Own operating-system and runtime-level optimizations, including Linux kernel and network tuning, IRQ affinity, threading models, and performance profiling
  • Ensure deterministic performance under burst load, packet loss, and volatile market conditions
  • Use Aeron (or equivalent) for high-performance fan-out and IPC, with hands-on responsibility for driver configuration, transport selection, and tuning. Own Aeron back-pressure behavior, loss/replay semantics, and performance diagnostics to meet latency and correctness targets
  • Own latency measurement and observability using histograms (p50/p95/p99/p99.9) and tail analysis
