12-month secondment for a built-environment professional to help advance whole life carbon (WLC) practice and support the use of Preoptima’s digital tools (CONCEPT and PACER) with local authorities and industry clients.
Job Responsibility:
Champion best-practice WLC assessment and support reviews using Preoptima’s tools
Engage with local planning authorities (LPAs), design teams, developers and consultants to support PACER and CONCEPT adoption
Help nurture existing clients and progress new and existing leads through demos, follow-ups and ongoing support
Support onboarding and training of new and existing users, including helping to deliver webinars, workshops and training sessions
Gather real-world feedback on workflows, data needs and user expectations and feed this into product and feature development
Requirements:
Strong grounding in sustainability in the built environment, with a clear interest in embodied and whole life carbon
Practical exposure to WLC/LCA in projects (e.g. contributing to or using WLC assessments to inform design or planning decisions)
Experience in architecture, engineering, planning, sustainability consulting or a related built-environment role
Confidence working with digital tools and data (e.g. web apps, design tools, spreadsheets or analytical platforms)
Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to engage credibly with both public and private sector stakeholders
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, conversations and follow-ups independently
Nice to have:
Experience preparing or reviewing WLC assessments for planning or certification (e.g. London Plan/GLA, RICS or similar)
Awareness of UK planning and sustainability policy, particularly around net zero and carbon requirements
Experience working with local authorities, housing associations or other public-sector bodies
Experience delivering or supporting training, workshops, demos or user onboarding
Direct sales, business development or account management experience in a professional or consultancy context
