The Sustainability Intern will support sustainability initiatives and operational projects within campus dining services while gaining hands-on experience in environmental practices, program coordination, and student engagement. This position will assist leadership with sustainability-focused efforts related to waste reduction, recycling, resource conservation, and campus outreach initiatives.
Job Responsibility
Assist with sustainability initiatives across campus dining and food service operations
Support waste reduction, recycling, composting, and sustainability tracking efforts within dining locations
Conduct audits, observations, and data collection related to sustainability programs and operational practices
Assist with creating educational materials, signage, and outreach campaigns promoting sustainability awareness
Support campus events, tabling activities, and student engagement efforts related to sustainability initiatives
Track program participation, compile reports, and assist leadership with sustainability-related projects and presentations
Collaborate with managers and campus partners to promote environmentally responsible practices within operations
Assist with identifying opportunities for operational improvement, waste reduction, and resource efficiency
Maintain professionalism while representing the department during meetings, events, and campus activities
Perform additional administrative or operational duties as assigned
Requirements
Previous custodial experience preferred
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling greater than 50 lbs.
Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks and exposure to hazardous chemicals
