Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Surveyor (Surface) to join a major joint venture between Bouygues Travaux Publics and J. Murphy & Sons, supporting the delivery of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes. Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time. We have a diverse programme team on LTC that reflects the communities we work in and fosters an inclusive culture by actively supporting the programme's Purpose, Principles and Cultural Pillars and growing employee networks. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing Technical Engineering Survey team, playing a key role in delivering complex works through advanced surveying techniques, including aerial surveys and laser scanning. You’ll be at the forefront of ensuring accurate, high-quality data is produced to support both construction and design across the project.

Job Responsibility

  • Leading and supervising survey teams carrying out aerial and engineering surveying activities
  • Carrying out laser scanning and utilising modern surveying technologies
  • Producing accurate and reliable survey data for construction and design teams
  • Managing large-scale control networks and survey coordination
  • Ensuring all survey operations meet health, safety, and quality standards
  • Coordinating closely with construction, design, and safety teams
  • Supporting reporting, data processing, and delivery of survey outputs

Requirements

  • Degree in Land Surveying, Engineering Surveying, Geomatics or similar
  • Solid experience in engineering survey techniques
  • Laser scanning
  • Survey data processing
  • Control networks
  • Working with 3D design models and positioning systems
  • Strong leadership and team management capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Clear communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Collaborative approach with internal teams, client, and supply chain
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards
