Job Responsibility

  • Assist the Project Manager with daily surveying tasks, both in the field and in the office
  • Set up and operate instrumentation for collection or layout of survey data (RTK/GPS, robotic total stations, controllers/data collectors, automatic levels)
  • Advanced knowledge of survey equipment calibration
  • Operate controllers or data collectors, including control initialization, GPS OPUS techniques, layout techniques (centerline and offset staking), curve staking, intersections, radial stake out, and basic error analysis
  • Transmit survey data to proper files in the computer network
  • Send data to office from remote locations using a laptop
  • Read plans and calculate centerlines, stationing, horizontal and vertical curve data, utility locations, curb & gutter, and curb returns
  • Perform construction staking activities including slope staking, utility offsets, streets, and commercial lots
  • Read survey plats and legal descriptions
  • Locate existing property corners and US Public Land Survey Corners
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment
  • Prepare neat written field notes and daily records
  • Maintain cut sheets for staking projects

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum one year of experience in the surveying industry preferred
  • Level I Certified Surveyor Technician Certificate preferred
  • Valid driver's license and able to pass the drug test requirements
