Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Survey Drafting Technician to join our land surveying team. You will play a crucial role in supporting our survey projects, supporting both office production and communication with field crews and project managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD drafting and design, with proficiency in MicroStation and TopoDOT. This role involves performing advanced CAD assignments, coordinating drafting efforts, and providing training for less-experienced drafters.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform mid-level to advanced CAD drafting and design duties using MicroStation and TopoDOT
  • Establish and maintain CAD standards and workflows for MicroStation and TopoDOT environment
  • Create and update all types of drawings, including engineering and construction plans
  • Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and project specifications and perform quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy
  • Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives
  • Assist in preparation of survey documentation, reports, plats, legal descriptions, and exhibits
  • Assist in compiling survey documentation and reports for city and DOT projects
  • Travel to job sites for observation and to perform field work as needed, in all types of terrain and weather conditions

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • Associate’s degree in CAD Drafting or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in CAD drafting with experience in survey or related fields
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, TopoDOT, and AutoCAD Civil 3D required
  • Knowledge of trigonometry and basic land surveying principles
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) preferred
  • Certified Survey Technician (CST) preferred
