Job Description

As a Surveillance Analyst, you will help maintain the integrity of Kalshi’s markets by monitoring trading activity, investigating anomalies, and supporting the evolution of our surveillance framework. You will quickly develop a strong understanding of Kalshi’s products, market structure, and regulatory environment, taking ownership of investigations and producing clear, high-quality analysis for internal and regulatory stakeholders. Over time, you will partner with engineering, compliance, and risk to improve surveillance systems and adapt controls as Kalshi’s markets and products continue to scale.

Job Responsibility

  • Market Monitoring: Monitor real-time trading activity across Kalshi’s markets using surveillance tools and data analytics
  • Surveillance Strategy: Design, implement, and continuously improve surveillance approaches to detect market manipulation, insider trading, and other abusive or fraudulent behavior
  • Incident Investigation: Conduct in-depth investigations into anomalous or suspicious trading patterns, documenting findings and escalating to internal stakeholders or regulators when appropriate
  • Risk Management: Identify emerging risks and vulnerabilities in the trading environment and help develop mitigation strategies to prevent market abuse or operational disruptions
  • Technology Enhancement: Partner closely with engineering to recommend and implement improvements to surveillance systems, data pipelines, and analytical tooling
  • Reporting & Documentation: Produce clear, thorough reports on surveillance activity, trends, and investigations

Requirements

  • 0–4 years of experience in market surveillance, compliance, risk, or a related role in financial services
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex datasets and identify subtle patterns or anomalies
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, including building notebooks, analyses, and data pipelines
  • Interest in market structure, trading platforms, and financial instruments
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and market integrity
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with incomplete information
