Step into the heart of patient care and surgical excellence. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll be a vital member of our perioperative team, working alongside surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to ensure every procedure runs smoothly and safely. Your focus will be on the scrub person and assist circulator roles, preparing the operating room, anticipating the surgeon’s needs, and maintaining a sterile environment. You’ll also have the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert for a surgical specialty and precept new scrub personnel making this role both hands-on and leadership-driven.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare the OR for procedures by gathering instruments, supplies, and equipment based on surgeon preference cards
Set up and maintain sterile fields, ensuring integrity and adherence to aseptic technique
Anticipate the surgeon’s needs, passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently and accurately
Assist in positioning patients and supporting the anesthesia team
Handle medication setup on the sterile field according to policy and surgeon instructions
Perform safety protocols such as sponge, needle, and instrument counts
Properly prepare specimens and contaminated instrumentation for processing
Assist in room turnover, including cleaning and preparation for the next case
Support patient rights, dignity, and safety at every step
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
At least 2 years of surgical technologist experience preferred
NBSTSA Certification in Surgical Technology (required unless grandfathered per Massachusetts law)
BLS certification within 6 months of hire
Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment
Computer proficiency and a commitment to confidentiality
