Surgical Tech - FT 11a-7:30p position at Advocate Trinity Hospital. Primary shift will be a split shift from 11am-7pm with call requirement. Full time, 40 hours per week.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure that appropriate equipment is available and functional for the OR suite
Prepare, operate and clean surgical equipment as directed
Report equipment repair needs within hours of discovery
Assists with room clean up upon completion of the case
Assist RN with keeping TAT for minor cases at 10 minutes and major cases at 20 minutes
Address and resolve customer complaints within 5 minutes of the complaint
Ensure on-time completion of your performance pathway
Participate quarterly in the TNT associate satisfaction survey
Submit ideas each year for improving customer satisfaction
Maintains positive relationships with all customers
When on-call he/she must be ready to scrub within 30 minutes from the time he/she called-in
Function in scrub role on specific procedures as required
Provide assistance in preparation and maintenance of sterile OR environment
Maintain on-call availability
Test autoclaves according to Policy and Procedure
Participate in efforts to monitor and improve departmental CQI indicators
Submit ideas for improving quality in your department
Keeps the circulator informed of the progress/intra-operative variances
Develop a learning plan and track your progress on a learning log
Completes the requisite hours of training per quarter by presenting one inservice with specialty team members prior to performance review
Participates in in-service and continuing education programs pertaining to surgical procedures
Submit Dynamite ideas to your leader
Participate in hospital-wide or departmental DIG each year
Implement at least one Just-Do-It initiatives in your department during the year
Collaborates with health care team members to provide for cooperative working environment
Participate in hospital-wide TNT-related activities
Participate in at least one departmental recognition and socialization activities
Attend all departmental staff meetings
Responsible for updating assigned specialty & maintaining turnaround time within 20 minutes
Assist the circulating nurse
Cross-trained to sterile processing
Participate in efforts to improve productivity in your department by updating at least 4 preference lists a year
Assist with keeping turnaround time within 20 minutes and on-time case start
Completes weekly/monthly assignments regularly
Submit ideas for improving productivity in your department
Performs other department based activities as requested/assigned
Maintains inventory/supply levels for the assigned specialty
Participate in efforts to contain costs or generate revenue in your department
Submit at least one idea for reducing expenses or adding revenue
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate from an accredited surgical tech program
O.R. scrub experience preferred
Good communication skills
Certified Surgical Technician or acceptable equivalent training
CPR certified
Must be willing to work with exposures to body fluids, radiation and waste anesthesia gases, hazardous materials and life threatening diseases
On-call availability (nights, weekends and holidays)
Ability to move heavy patients and equipment
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Able to communicate while wearing a mask and not facing others
Able to respond quickly in emergencies and function under stress
Ability to work at different table heights
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
Nice to have:
O.R. scrub experience preferred
