Be the Trusted Expert Behind Successful Surgical Procedures. KARL STORZ is seeking a Surgical Operational Efficiency Specialist (SOES) to support our customers in the Austin, TX area. This highly visible, hands‑on role places you directly in hospital environments—supporting surgeons, nurses, sterile processing, and biomedical teams to ensure minimally invasive surgical (M.I.S.) equipment is always ready when it matters most. As an integral member of the KARL STORZ Service team, you’ll manage, maintain, and troubleshoot surgical instruments, video systems, and integrated OR (OR1®) technology—helping surgical teams focus on patient care, not equipment challenges. This role is also a proven stepping‑stone for internal career growth into Sales, Marketing, Leadership, and other advancement opportunities within KARL STORZ.
Job Responsibility:
Provide face‑to‑face support in the OR, Sterile Processing (SPD), and Biomed departments
Manage and perform preventive maintenance on endoscopy and M.I.S. equipment, ensuring readiness and documentation of functionality
Monitor equipment condition, usage, and performance
facilitate repair and exchange transactions
Track and manage repair and replacement costs within an assigned account budget
Deliver training and education for OR, SPD, and hospital support teams
Design and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce repair expenses
Identify opportunities to minimize instrument damage and related costs
Capture and document detailed device usage and repair data
Support implementation and adoption of reusable M.I.S. products, from training through procedural support
Communicate effectively with a wide range of hospital and internal stakeholders
Perform complex, time‑sensitive tasks independently in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments
In some accounts, assist with transporting, cleaning, and packaging instruments after use
Participate in broader operational initiatives focused on cost reduction and added customer value
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Comfort working in hospital and surgical environments
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs
Willingness to participate in a rotating on‑call schedule
Nice to have:
2–4 years of experience in: Surgical Technology
Sterile Processing / Central Sterile
Medical device sales, service, or healthcare operations
Higher education or degree preferred
