Job Description:

Baptist Hospital is hiring a Surgical Athletic Coordinator at Baptist Orthopedics, located at Baptist Clay in Fleming Island, FL. This is a full-time, day-shift opportunity Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. As the Surgical Athletic Coordinator, you will be responsible for the delivery of health care services as part of a multidisciplinary team by providing athletic training services that are in accordance with the Florida state practice act.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work with one or more physicians in the department of Orthopedic Surgery with direct patient contact primarily for the evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathologies for pediatric through geriatric populations in the clinic setting
  • Provide community/special event coverage on an as needed basis
  • Assist surgeon with patient positioning, preparation and draping
  • Maintain sterile operating field, cuts sutures, assists MD with tissue retraction, exposure of the operative area, suctioning, sizing and preparation of previously harvested graft-tissue, position of arthroscopic camera, and suturing skin and wound closure under supervision of the physician
  • Prepare and assist the physician with injection procedures done in the office
  • Provide proper post-operative wound care and education, removal of sutures and dressing changes to post-surgical patients as directed by the attending physician
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, assist in provision of continuity of care from offices visits through surgery if necessary as well as therapy needs
  • Perform cast and/or durable medical equipment (DME) application and removal

  • One-Two Years Emergency Care Experience Preferred
  • Operating Room Experience Preferred
  • Experience Suturing, Prepping and Draping Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR) Required
