The Department of Surgery at Atrium Health is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider for the Division of Plastic Surgery. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical services are performed at AH Carolinas Medical Center (the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center), AH Cabarrus, and AH Union West.
Job Responsibility:
Working with surgeons one on one in the OR
IP rounding
Minor bedside surgical procedures
No call coverage
May include 1 outpatient clinic shift weekly as needed
Assist Surgeons in reconstructive plastic surgery on adult and pediatric patients
Inpatient work comprising of 2-5 scheduled cases per day, with variable monthly call rotation shared with residents and providers
Primary first assist to surgeons who focus on head/neck reconstruction, pediatric craniofacial surgery, cutaneous malignancy reconstruction, breast reconstruction, orthopedic reconstruction, and OMFS trauma
Requirements:
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license
Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works
Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required
BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice
Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions
Three years of relative experience and/or surgical background preferred
Experience as a first assist and management of inpatient post-operative patients preferred
Experience and confidence taking first call for a surgical service
Nurse Practitioner –Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required
License to practice as a Registered Nurse required
Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required
Acute Care board certification required based upon population and acuity served
Physician Assistant– Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required
Master's Degree preferred
Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred
Nice to have:
Three years of relative experience and/or surgical background
Experience as a first assist and management of inpatient post-operative patients
Experience and confidence taking first call for a surgical service
Master's Degree for Physician Assistant
Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
