We are seeking a reliable, motivated and values-aligned Disability Support Worker to join our dedicated team based in Burleigh Heads. This role primarily supports a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment and offers a mix of independent and team-based work, supporting residents to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. The Burleigh Heads SIL supports approximately 8 participants across 4 homes on one property. Participants are independent and strong-willed, requiring a strengths-based, person-centred approach.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting residents to achieve their NDIS goals and build independence in daily living skills
Providing personal care and physical support in line with individual support plans
Supporting residents with community access, appointments, and recreational activities
Preparing nutritious meals and supporting meal planning and prep for participants (including dinner)
Administering medication and following mealtime management plans
Implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs)
Supporting participants with complex behaviours and health needs
Working collaboratively within a team and independently when required
Transporting clients as required
Maintaining clear and professional communication with colleagues and leaders
Using technology, apps and digital systems to record progress and documentation
Requirements:
A positive, proactive and respectful approach
Experience supporting people with disability, particularly in SIL environments (preferred)
Confidence supporting participants with complex needs, behaviours and physical support requirements
Basic cooking skills and ability to prepare healthy, nutritious meals
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to work across a 24/7 roster including Sleepover shifts (non-negotiable)
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Confidence using technology and digital systems
Resilience, emotional intelligence and ability to maintain professional boundaries
A non-judgemental, person-centred approach
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) – advantageous but not essential
Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role
Current or willingness to obtain: Working with Children Check (Blue Card), NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card), First Aid & CPR, National Criminal History Check (Fit2Work), Open Driver’s Licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle
Nice to have:
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
Experience supporting people with disability, particularly in SIL environments
