Supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental ill-health, physical disabilities, and other complex needs means truly getting to know them, their stories, interests, and what matters most. Your role is to motivate, encourage independence, and build genuine, trusting relationships every step of the way.

  • Emotional Support: Offer guidance and emotional support to help young people manage their emotions, behaviour, and mental health
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely records of daily logs, incidents, monthly reports, keywork sessions, risk assessments, and support plans
  • Multi-Agency Working: Liaise with social workers, education providers, mental health services, and other professionals to ensure cohesive and effective support
  • Promote Meaningful Routines: Assist young people in planning and engaging in healthy daily routines that support wellbeing and structure
  • Crisis Management: Respond effectively and calmly to challenging behaviour and crisis situations, using approved de-escalation techniques where appropriate
