Join United Response as a Support Worker & Make a Difference in Your Community! United Response are seeking relief support workers for our service in Derwenthorpe York. At Derwenthorpe you will be supporting four young people aged from 26-31 with learning and physical disabilities, mental health conditions, down syndrome and autism. They have 24/7 hours in supported spreading across two connected houses with two floors and a beautiful garden, with a mixture of shared, 1:1 and 2:1 support. Shifts will be varied and include weekends, sleeps and waking nights. The people we support at Derwenthorpe also enjoy taking part in lots of activities such as gardening and baking. They have a lot of indoor games at the house and they love making competitions and having board games nights. They also love doing indoor parties and barbecues in the garden at summer time. They attend activities such as Athletics, bowling, discos, going to the cinema, going to the theatre and they love a good musical and comedy to watch. Our support workers are the heart of everything we do. We want you to empower the people we support to live their lives how they want to, whether that’s travelling the world or spending time in their local park! All we ask is that you have the commitment and drive to encourage and guide the people we support to make this happen. This position is all about building relationships with the people you will be supporting while helping them with their day-to-day routine in line with their personal support plans such as dressing, personal care, finances, medication, attending any appointments along with employment, Volunteering and hobbies.
