Job Description

SIS are delighted to announce the opening of a new service in Stone, Staffordshire. We have opportunities for support workers who can bring with them a variety of skills to support individuals within a mental health supported living scheme. The role of a support worker is extremely rewarding, but can also be challenging at times, so patience and compassion are key. Sherwood House is a new refurbished service which has 12 one-bedroom, self-contained apartments based in the town centre of Stone, close to local amenities and transport links. For the individuals we care for, this may be their first opportunity to live semi-independently and develop independent living skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Support individuals within a mental health supported living scheme
  • Work with individuals to understand their needs and help them to achieve their goals and ambitions
  • Help improve people’s lives and build an excellent team around the service

Requirements

  • Level 2 health & social care qualification or willing to work towards this
  • People that are enthusiastic about making a difference
  • Self-motivated, empathetic, dynamic, and creative within the care sector
  • Experience of mental health needs and challenging behaviours, this can be work related or from life experiences

  • Assist in providing basic care where people have a physical illness
  • You will be expected to carry out personal care as part of the role depending on the client needs
  • To report any client general issues/concerns to the Manager
  • To participate in any service user’s leisure pursuits at home and within the community
  • To act as Key-Worker (where appropriate) for identified service user(s) as designated by the Manager
  • To advocate on behalf of service users where appropriate
