As a Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals live independently and enjoy fulfilling lives. You’ll provide person-centred support, enabling service users to develop skills, build confidence, and take part in their home and wider community life. We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, and self-motivated individuals to provide temporary relief to primary caregivers. This role ensures clients continue receiving high-quality care, companionship, and daily support while their regular caregiver takes time to rest, recharge, or attend to personal matters. As a Respite Caregiver, you will step in to provide temporary care for individuals—typically older adults or people with disabilities—based on their personalized care plan. Your goal is to promote comfort, dignity, and well-being while supporting the client’s independence.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting individuals with daily living activities
Promoting independence, dignity, and choice
Assisting with personal care where required
Encouraging participation in hobbies, interests, and community activities
Building positive relationships and making every day meaningful
Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting assistance)
Support with household tasks (meal preparation, light cleaning, laundry)
Administer or assist with medication as directed
Offer companionship and social interaction
Assist with mobility, exercise, and other daily activities
Follow the client’s individualized care plan to ensure continuity of support
Support adults with learning disabilities, autism and autistic spectrum disorders, complex needs, mental health issues and challenging behaviours in all aspects of their daily lives
Support the service users with general household chores for example cooking and laundry and housework such as hoovering and dusting and personal care
Requirements:
Compassion and empathy: A genuine desire to help others and understand their needs and feelings
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Building rapport with clients and families and effectively communicating important information
Patience and understanding: Remaining calm and composed in challenging situations and understanding individual needs
Observational and attention to detail: Noticing changes in condition or behaviour and meticulously following care plans
Organisational and time management skills: Managing tasks effectively, adhering to schedules, and keeping accurate records
Flexibility and adaptability: Adjusting to varying client needs and environments
Physical stamina and strength: May be required for tasks like lifting or assisting with mobility
Problem-solving and critical thinking: Anticipating potential problems and making sound decisions in challenging situations
Cultural competence and respect: Appreciating diversity and providing respectful care to individuals from all backgrounds
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role
