We are currently recruiting for a part time Female Support Worker for a 12 hour contract role in our service in Thurso. In this role, you will support a lady with Down Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder, who lives at home with her dad. The lady we support loves music, dancing and singing and would love someone with similar interests to support her. She enjoys a daily picnic, going out on daytrips and spending time with her dad and brother, both of whom are very important to her. The lady we support has a fear of dogs, so requires patience, compassion and reassurance from her staff. She prefers to go out into the community in the car due to her unease with dogs, so a UK driving license with use of your own vehicle is essential for this role (mileage will be reimbursed @ 45p per mile). Monday, Wednesday and Sunday our shifts are 9am - 9pm, 9am - 4pm or 4pm - 9pm. Tuesday and Thursday 9am-10pm. On weekends, we provide sleepovers on Friday and Saturday night. All staff are required to work different shifts, including some sleepovers, to ensure fairness for the team. Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them. For this particular role, a female colleague is required. This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
