ACG School Jakarta is seeking a committed and professional Support Teaching Assistant (STA) to provide academic, behavioural, and pastoral support to students in Year 9. Working as part of the Support Team around children, the STA will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and the Inclusion Coordinator to assist students in achieving learning goals and demonstrating independence. This position is funded by the family, with ACG responsible for advertising, shortlisting, and appointment.
Job Responsibility:
Provide individualised support to students in accordance with teacher guidance and school standards
Support Year 9 students across core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science, Global Perspectives, Design Technology)
Prepare, adapt, or organise resources to enable student access to learning activities
Encourage positive communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Promote student independence, resilience, and confidence in learning tasks
Monitor student interactions to help ensure safety and wellbeing within the school environment
Assist students in meeting deadlines, completing assignments, and maintaining effective study habits
Use technology, including AI-based platforms where appropriate, to enhance learning and student organisation
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support educational and behavioural planning
Meet regularly with the Inclusion Coordinator and contribute to the review of support plans
Participate in meetings to provide insights into student progress and needs
Support student participation and engagement across all subject areas and school routines
Promote constructive and thoughtful behaviour in all school contexts
Work during school operational hours, generally 7.30am–4.00pm
Requirements:
Patience and a calm demeanour when responding to challenging situations
Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills
Effective behaviour management strategies grounded in positive guidance
High levels of empathy, including an ability to understand student needs and emotional triggers
Awareness of child or adolescent development and learning needs (desirable)
Commitment to fostering student independence, agency, and self-esteem
Ability to support multiple subjects within a secondary school environment
Competence and willingness to use technology to support learning and organisation
Experience working with young people in an educational or support capacity (preferred)
Understanding of inclusive education and differentiated support
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
Ability to support routines, organisation, and student accountability
Professionalism, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility
