Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives? We are looking for dedicated and resilient Support Staff to work within a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) boys’ school supporting pupils across KS2, KS3 and KS4. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who want to move away from long shifts and weekend work into a structured, term-time role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom and during activities
  • Building positive, trusting relationships
  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
  • Encouraging engagement in learning and routines
  • Promoting emotional regulation and social skills
  • Working closely with teaching staff and therapists
  • Providing a safe, structured and supportive environment

Requirements:

  • Experience in SEMH, SEN or behaviour support
  • Care or support work
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Mental health support roles
  • A genuine passion for helping young people
  • Resilience and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patience, empathy and understanding
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn

Nice to have:

  • Experience in SEMH, SEN or behaviour support
  • Care or support work
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Mental health support roles
