As our Support Coordinator, you will lead and coordinate the provision of support for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) needs across the college, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and promoting inclusive learning practices. The post holder will assess and coordinate the support needs of learners with a declared learning difficulty or disability. This will include completing initial interviews, high needs funding forms, risk assessments and annual reviews. They will also be responsible for coordinating special educational needs services, such as managing the Learning Support Assistant and Learning Assistant timetables, via ProSolution, supporting the provision for access arrangements and dyslexia support and SALT and ELSA intervention.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct initial interviews with learners to assess support needs and develop tailored support plans
Support in providing the evidence for the completion of the High Needs Funding (HNF) applications, risk assessments, and annual reviews of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Monitor and review the implementation of EHCPs, ensuring they remain relevant and impactful
Manage and coordinate the Learning Support Assistant (LSA) timetable, via ProSolution, to meet learner needs effectively
Oversee the provision of exam access arrangements, ensuring compliance with awarding body regulations
Provide guidance to teaching staff on implementing differentiated teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners with SEND
Liaise with external agencies, including local authorities, healthcare providers, and specialist services, to secure additional support where needed
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all support and SEND activities, including ASF funding applications, support plans, and reviews
Requirements:
A strong understanding of SEND Code of Practice and inclusive learning strategies
Experience in assessing and supporting learners with SEND needs
Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
