We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Haywards Heath. This full-time, term-time-only role involves supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting students in the classroom and around the school
Providing consistent, individualised support to promote engagement, independence, and learning
Working closely with teaching and support staff to implement strategies and interventions
Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development
Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
Requirements:
Must be able to drive due to rural location
Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviours
A patient, calm, and supportive approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of safeguarding and confidence in applying best practice
A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs
Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
Must have the right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
