Job Description:

Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual looking to make a difference in the lives of young learners? We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our school community in Crawley, West Sussex, starting in September 2024 for a long-term placement.

Job Responsibility:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Student Assistance: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with their learning and development
  • Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, managing behaviour effectively
  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources to support lesson plans
  • Administrative Tasks: Support the teacher with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and organising classroom activities
  • Supervision: Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and other activities as required
  • Individualised Support: Work with students with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure they receive the appropriate support and guidance

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable
  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education or childcare is preferred but not essential
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents
  • Patience and Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to working with children
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles
  • Safeguarding: A clear understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children
  • DBS Check: An enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
