Job Description

A Supply Chain Safety Intern, who will be based in Kempton Park, is responsible for SHE Coordinating with planning, implementing and overseeing company's employee safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company complies and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. Hence, the main goal will be to ensure safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents on job and off job.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist with the implementation of company’s core values, rules and regulations
  • Assist with relevant safety training to employees and contractors
  • Advise and assist employees on various safety-related topics
  • Check and verify that all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
  • Review and update existing safety programs, standards and procedures
  • Assist that all necessary Standard Operating procedures (SOPs)/work instructions are in place
  • Assist with new employee on-boarding process for safety
  • Work with integrated health services to ensure timely medical examinations are conducted and follow up where applicable
  • Assist with risk assessment, identify safety bottlenecks and offer timely solutions
  • Assist with necessary audits and assessments
  • Assist with verification of corrective actions and leveraging preventative actions
  • Assist with root cause investigations following a defined methodology
  • Perform other safety duties and responsibilities as ordered by line manager

Requirements

  • Grade 12/ Matric with Environmental, Health & Safety Qualification
  • Occupational Hygiene
  • SAMTRAC-NOSA course
  • Valid Driver’s license will be an advantage but not a MUST HAVE
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer aptitude including use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principle such as 5S and Continuous Improvement will be an advantage

Nice to have

  • Valid Driver’s license will be an advantage but not a MUST HAVE
