Job Description

This is a key role within the business, responsible for vendor management, purchasing operations, inventory control and team leadership, ensuring service levels, cost control and performance targets are consistently achieved. Reporting into senior management, you will take ownership of the end-to-end purchasing and supply chain function, driving continuous improvement, building strong supplier relationships and leading a small team.

Job Responsibility

  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Build, maintain and develop strong relationships with suppliers, including on-site and off-site visits
  • Lead supplier identification, onboarding and ongoing performance management
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions to support cost control and service delivery
  • Issue supply forecasts and review supplier performance using KPIs and service metrics
  • Drive supply chain initiatives and contribute to strategic planning
  • Purchasing & MRP: Oversee and manage the MRP-driven purchasing process
  • Raise purchase orders for stock and ad-hoc requirements
  • Ensure purchasing processes are compliant and continuously improved
  • Work closely with Finance to achieve accurate purchase order matching
  • Maintain high levels of data integrity within the ERP system
  • Inventory Management: Review and manage inventory levels to maintain service levels and minimise obsolete or dead stock
  • Identify supply constraints and implement solutions to reduce stock-outs
  • Lead bi-annual stock takes in collaboration with the Warehouse Lead
  • Support and deliver against the company's inventory and PI targets
  • Team Leadership & Performance: Lead, develop and support the purchasing and supply chain team
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and support employee development
  • Ensure clear communication, flexibility and adherence to company policies
  • Take full responsibility for departmental KPIs, including: Inventory value vs budget
  • Service quality (On Time, In Full, Line Fill)
  • Supplier OTIF performance
  • Cost savings and cost avoidance

Requirements

  • Proven experience in purchasing, supply chain or inventory management within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Confident working with MRP/ERP systems
  • Experienced team leader with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Analytical, organised and commercially aware
