As the Supply Chain Planner, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for 3rd party vendor commercial relationships and non-tactical activities. In this project-oriented position, you will work with organizational stakeholders and external vendors to meet corporate objectives. This is a hybrid work environment located at our Vancouver Head Office and, as a bonus; you will travel to conduct physical inventory counts year-round at various indoor and outdoor 3rd party vendor locations. Please note that this is a contract role with a 1-Year term.
Job Responsibility:
Generate and maintain the appropriate monthly, weekly, and daily order files, accounting for key supply, demand, production, and transportation factors
Ensure inventories are kept at target, facilitating the required actions with Sales, Planning, Product Supply and Transportation personnel as required
Arrange shipment and oversee the scheduling of orders
Key role with managing supply chain decisions that will have direct impact on KPI’s for on-time shipment, working capital and operational costs
Key liaison with the manufacturing facilities and 3rd party reloads operations to facilitate the timely delivery of product to our customers
Discretionary responsibility to resolve shipping issues with focus on mitigating customer, operational and financial impacts
Ability to make quick calculated supply chain decisions that have large impact on key areas of the business
Manage equipment allocation to meet demand
Ensure cutoffs are timely met
Manage asset use, detention charges and diversions
Manage freight rates and routes in the TMS system
Monitor business requirements to secure equipment allocation
Monitor shipping progression of orders in the system
Establish communication with internal stakeholders and vendors
Prepare and provide reports as required
Cross train in other supply chain operations and provide backup as needed
Liaise with senior management and key personnel in other departments to ensure that the business moves forward
Participation in tactical meetings
Monitor and resolve account payable issues with vendors
Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any
Reconcile vendor statements to ensure accounts are up-to date
Enter invoices as required and approve payment of freight rates
Requirements:
Previous experience in the lumber or pulp industry, manufacturing, or supply chain management
At least three years of experience in Supply Chain/Logistics
Post-secondary degree completion, preferably with a focus on Business Administration, Wood Science or Supply Chain Management
At least 1 - 2 years’ experience in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management, with a focus on surface transportation being an asset
Knowledge of ocean and/or rail freight pricing, routes, regulations, and services
Ability to navigate a transportation management system
Exposure to the distribution process for commodities

Nice to have:
Previous experience in the lumber or pulp industry, in manufacturing or supply chain management is an asset
Focus on surface transportation being an asset
