We are looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize operations within a manufacturing environment in Newport News, Virginia. This long-term contract position involves managing processes, driving efficiency, and leading initiatives that enhance supply chain performance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in manufacturing operations and a strong ability to analyze data to support strategic decision-making.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and streamline supply chain operations within a manufacturing facility to ensure efficiency and productivity
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and drive critical initiatives forward
Utilize data analysis tools, including Excel, to evaluate performance metrics and identify areas for improvement
Lead client engagement efforts and implement change management strategies to facilitate successful project execution
Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or Industrial Engineering methodologies to optimize processes and reduce waste
Coordinate inventory management, production processes, shipping, and receiving to meet operational goals
Implement strategies for continuous process improvement and supply chain risk management
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and outcomes
Manage vendor relationships and procurement activities to ensure timely delivery of materials
Identify and resolve issues related to equipment maintenance and operational bottlenecks
Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in supply chain management within manufacturing environments
Hands-on expertise in inventory management, production processes, and logistics operations
Proficiency in using Excel and other analytical tools
Strong knowledge of project management practices, including issue escalation and risk mitigation
Experience implementing Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to optimize operations
Familiarity with defense manufacturing environments or technical/industrial products is preferred
Certifications such as Lean, Six Sigma, or CPIM are highly desirable
Nice to have:
Prior experience working in government contracting preferred
