The Supplier Quality Engineer position is responsible for all supplier qualification and development related activities with their assigned scope of suppliers including supplier audits, supplier process reviews, hold points and witness points, non-conformance management at supplier, identification and implementation of supplier development activities, supplier technical capability assessment and enhancement. This role will report to the Global Sourcing team and will work closely with the Category Management teams, Purchasing teams at plant, Engineering and Project teams, liaising with all current and future potential suppliers for their assigned scope.
Job Responsibility:
Evaluating and qualifying suppliers in conjunction with the Category Managers and the Celeros sourcing teams
Supports the supplier through the approval of 1st article and/or approval of 1st production batch, as warranted
Conducts new supplier audits and annual supplier audits for existing suppliers per the Quality Management System directives
Verifies quality improvement programs for poor performing suppliers
Measures and manages Key Performance Indicators including cost of non-conformance, continuous process improvement (LEAN objectives) and on-time delivery
Chasing down & actioning certification NCRs to closure
Data analysis of supplier non-conformance
Conducting root-cause analysis and liaising with vendors to implement corrective actions
Involvement in pre-purchase order placement review of key critical components
Attending weekly supplier calls
Ensure compliance with regulations and agreed upon strategy
Requirements:
Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and specifications
Must be technically knowledgeable and capable of understanding engineering and quality concepts
Basic knowledge of auditing, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies such as ISO9001 & API Q1, Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, Six Sigma, SPC, Kaizen and process mapping
Proficiency using monitoring and measurement equipment to provide evidence of product conformity
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels, both internally and with the supply base
Outstanding time management and follow-through skills
The ability to multitask and learn independently in a fast-paced environment
The ability to achieve goals independently and contribute as a team player
Strong problem-solving skills
Adaptability and flexibility
A bachelor's degree, ideally in Engineering. Will consider equivalent work experience
3-10+ years experience, including direct supplier quality and external audit experience
ASQ CQE or equivalent preferred
Experience in total quality, Six Sigma, or other similar systems
Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment. SAP knowledge and experience preferred
Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills
A CIPS, CPM or APICS certification is helpful but not required
