Job Description

As an NP Aerospace Supplier Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in strengthening our supply chain performance and protecting product quality across a highly regulated defence environment. Working closely with the Plant Quality Manager and wider Quality team, you will lead supplier development activity, drive measurable improvement, and ensure suppliers consistently meet NP Aerospace requirements. This role combines hands on problem solving with structured assurance, including supplier audits, non-conformance management, root cause and corrective actions, and proactive support through new product introduction and change. You will be a confident partner to internal stakeholders and suppliers alike, helping us deliver right first-time quality for critical defence programmes.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead supplier quality assurance activities across the supply chain, including supplier audits, performance reviews and vendor rating, driving measurable improvement in quality and delivery
  • Support supplier selection and approval, assessing capability, capacity, risk, and Health, Safety and Environmental considerations
  • Work directly with suppliers to review manufacturing processes, identify improvement opportunities and implement robust controls that protect product quality
  • Own supplier non-conformance management, including containment, Material Review Boards, root cause analysis and corrective actions, ensuring issues are driven to closure and recurrence is prevented
  • Act as the quality interface between Goods Inwards, suppliers and manufacturing, ensuring issues are communicated clearly and resolved quickly
  • Partner with Engineering, Design and Manufacturing to confirm design intent is understood and translated into stable supplier processes and inspection requirements, including interpretation of technical drawings
  • Support New Product Introduction and change activity, ensuring suppliers can meet required standards and that quality planning is in place from the start
  • Coach and support internal and external stakeholders in the effective use of key quality tools and deliverables such as PPAP, PFMEA, DFMEA, control plans and First Article Inspection
  • Maintain compliance with relevant quality and environmental standards and defence requirements, supporting a right first-time culture across the supply chain

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of supplier development techniques, driving quality and performance improvements with suppliers
  • Proven experience working within a defence or automotive supply chain environment
  • HNC or HND in Manufacturing, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proactive and collaborative, able to spot issues early, take ownership, and deliver clear improvements to product quality, process control and supplier performance
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills, with a track record of driving action plans to closure and keeping stakeholders aligned throughout

Nice to have

  • HNC or HND in Manufacturing, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
