Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a leading manufacturer of Gas Turbines and are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join the Blades and Vanes Team. As a Supplier Quality Engineer for blades and vanes (BV) supporting our SGT business, you will be part of a growing team in a position that entails a large responsibility! Your day will be filled with interactions with suppliers; leading product qualifications/fixed process changes, addressing/containing non-conformances, analysing data, and driving continuous improvement. You'll collaborate internally with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality standards are met, while fostering strong relationships with our valued suppliers. We work in a global, multi-cultural environment with contacts across the world. Networking will be key to your success.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead teams to perform Product and Process Qualifications (PPQ), supporting suppliers in adhering to Siemens Energy Quality Management Processes and tools
  • Engage with suppliers to help resolve process related issues, including non-conformance management and containment
  • Oversee supplier quality performance, including corrective and preventive actions, initiate quality improvement programs/initiatives and risk mitigation measures
  • Collaborate with a multi-functional team to assess and audit supplier capabilities, ensuring they meet Siemens Energy standards
  • Continuously monitor and report supplier quality performance, help contribute to KPI's and communicate risks

Requirements:

  • Solid background in Engineering, R&D, or manufacturing (time served or degree qualified)
  • Demonstrable experience of being a self-starter, leading/managing product qualifications (PPAP, APQP or similar) and unexpected supplier quality issues from beginning to end
  • Knowledge of inspection methodologies and capability
  • Knowledge of drawing interpretation (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • IT skills including excel/data manipulation
  • Proficiency in quality methods (5 why, FMEA, 8D, RCA) and risk management
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO9001), Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and Quality Control routines
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills across all levels of business
  • Developed initiative and diplomacy skills
  • Experience working within a global environment with good cultural awareness
  • Proven ability to manage multi-problem investigations simultaneously
  • Demonstrates commitment, collaboration, positivity and structured work habits
  • Willingness to travel as part of the job

Nice to have:

Experience in gas turbine blade/vane machining and/or surface coating technology
