Job Description:

As a Supplier Manager on Block's Global Freight & Trade Compliance team, you'll be responsible for managing our global import compliance program across all of Block's Hardware portfolio. You'll own our customs clearance operations and import compliance strategy across all brands. You'll develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives while managing complex supplier business relationships, including pricing and contract negotiations, service quality, risk mitigation, and compliance assurance. Working within a lean, flexible logistics team, you'll build scalable compliance solutions that support both new product development and sustaining operations in the markets where Block operates, including the US, Canada, EU, UK, Japan, and Australia. This role goes beyond traditional import compliance - you'll work with cross-functional and external partners to drive outcomes in an outsourced compliance model through flexible solutions and strategic sourcing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and optimize customs clearance networks for speed, cost, and compliance accuracy
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives including vendor selection, relationship management, and market intelligence
  • Establish self-service capabilities and automation to reduce manual intervention and enable cross-functional teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in clearance times, entry accuracy, and exception reduction through supplier performance management
  • Develop and own business continuity plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions
  • Manage HTS classification programs for Block's product catalog, including finished goods, components, and engineering assets
  • Ensure accurate duty assessment and proper application of trade preference programs and duty drawback opportunities
  • Oversee customs valuation, record retention, and supplier documentation requirements
  • Lead operational implementation of Global Trade Management (GTM) systems
  • Create and maintain supplier performance metrics and lead quarterly business reviews
  • Design scalable processes and documentation that elevate team knowledge
  • Manage critical, ad hoc, and expedited shipments to ensure supply chain continuity

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in global logistics procurement and carrier management
  • Deep expertise in HTS classification, customs valuation, entry filing, and import regulations, Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist is a plus
  • Established network of industry contacts and supplier relationships across customs brokerage, freight forwarding, classification services, and trade technology providers
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce exceptions and improve clearance accuracy through effective supplier management
  • Strong track record managing outsourced compliance programs across multiple regions
  • Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder management across cross functional teams, including communicating with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfort with ambiguity and proven ability to establish standards where none currently exist
  • Expertise in contract structuring and negotiation
  • Experience implementing Global Trade Management (GTM) systems (Oracle, SAP, Descartes)
  • Advanced analytical skills with ability to identify trends and drive process improvements
