Currently, we are seeking a qualified Trucking Supervisor to work collaboratively with our trucking division in Eugene, Oregon.
Job Responsibility
Assure safe workplace practices are followed and promote safety awareness through leading by example
Work with Company Timber Managers and forestry department for optimal productivity of division trucking operations
Actively manage and reduce downtime through quick analysis of options and orchestrating solutions
Identify opportunities and take measures to reduce wasted truck operations and inefficiencies
Maintain documentation for department operations, disciplinary actions, safe work practices, and attendance
Understand and comply with applicable regulations such as OSHA, wage and hour, environmental, DOT/State laws governing commercial vehicles and drivers
Supervise, train, direct, and coordinate work of the department including drivers, shop crew, and related operations
Effectively manage service and equipment repairs, parts inventories, and purchasing
Support and contribute to workforce development efforts in partnership with division HR
Effectively manage crew work time during ongoing operations, including breakdowns and emergencies
Continually assess performance, productivity, and skills of the crew, recommend and initiate solutions
Manage scheduled time off, unexpected absences, and modified duty of crew
Approve timecards for payment, assuring compliance with applicable regulations and Company policy
Participate with interviews and selection of new hires, evaluate crew for awarding of job bids
Identify, recommend, and participate in crew recognition, corrective, disciplinary and discharge actions
Requirements
3 years' transportation operations or timber products industry experience
Prior supervisory experience in transportation or logging operations
Working knowledge of DOT and other transportation regulatory requirements
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a crew, with emphasis on people management
Familiarity with timber harvesting and log hauling processes
Understand trucking operations, with sufficient knowledge to address both preventative and corrective maintenance
Proficient computer skills, including the ability to learn and use software programs, with sufficient knowledge to address both preventative and corrective maintenance
Proven commitment to safety and Company policy
Ability to handle multiple priorities under demanding circumstances
