Job Responsibility

We own the ethics and compliance program implementation
We prevent, detect, and resolve violations of law, Baxter policies, and the code of conduct accurately
We implement Baxter’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures, including (but not limited to) the Global Interactions Policy and Third-Party Policy, supporting processes and ensuring employee onboarding and training
We identify compliance and legal risks for Baxter within the country/cluster
Ensure accurate compliance with tax obligations such as: prepare and calculate applicable direct taxes for assigned entities
examine and lead all aspects of direct tax calculations prepared by external firms
handle submission of informative tax returns and respond to requirements from tax authorities (invitations, special audits, etc.)
pay of taxes for all group companies (monthly and annually)
review and submit the Tax Audit Report or ISIF, as applicable for each entity
submission and alignment of electronic accounting records
compliance with electronic invoicing regulations and related documentation
coordinate with the Costa Rica shared service center to provide local support when vital for indirect tax compliance (VAT, water rights, property tax, business licenses, etc.)
stay informed of and implement new requirements resulting from tax law changes
verify updates and payments with SIEM (Mexico), participate in dividend payment processes and provide legal certainty to companies by avoiding penalties due to late or incorrect payments
optimize the companies’ tax burden within the legal and corporate framework, and ensure timely compliance with corporate tax requirements (deferred taxes, tax kits, boycott regulations, etc.)
provide tax support and advisory to different company areas while serving as legal representative before tax authorities (special power of attorney)
lead projects related to changes in tax obligations and/or operational changes affecting tax compliance, support internal and external audit reviews, approve and take ownership for accounting entries within the handled area
ensure assigned accounting accounts are reconciled and accurately maintained
stay in sync with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements, regulations, financial guidelines, and protocols, and with GMP (Good Documentation Practices) and applicable SOPs
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Certified Public Accountant with professional license a must
5+ years of experience in tax within a multinational company or tax/accounting firm (preferred) and 2 years of experience in supervisory roles in tax
Experience taking care of tax authorities (audits, invitations, communications)
Experience with U.S.-based companies (preferred)
English B2+ or higher
Proficiency in tax, accounting, legal and auditing procedures
Knowledge of ERP systems and related platforms
Knowledge of NIFs and US GAAP
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and wide-ranging environment
