This position will report to the Manager of Prior Authorization Team-non specialty. This is a fully remote position, and will have HR responsibilities for Team Members. Hours are Monday-Friday, typically 8am-4pm.
Job Responsibility:
Supervises operational activities of pharmacy technicians, coordinates staff to meet daily priorities, resolves issues, and insures services are safe, timely and high quality
Ensures appropriate documentation is completed and retained
Participates in the maintenance of department compliance with federal, state, Accrediting Organization, and other regulatory law and/or standards
Provides leadership, training and support for department strategic initiatives
Supports budget targets through inventory management, waste reduction, and efficient workflows
Coordinates daily staffing and scheduling of pharmacy technicians to ensure workload needs of the department are met
Problem solves daily issues as needed
Coordinates departmental Quality Assurance activities including but not limited to, patient care area inspections, unit-based cabinet inspections, refrigerator logs, controlled substance audits, and medication event tracking
Ensures that all pharmacy technicians are providing safe, accurate, and efficient services in the drug distribution and sterile products preparation
Leads team members to comply with strategies and tools to achieve system, hospital and department goals
Assists with planning and implementation of workflow changes, process improvements, and technology implementation
Participates on hospital-wide and system committees/teams and collaborates with other departments as needed
Develops and implements new and improved services through evaluation and innovation
Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale
Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations
Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business
Requirements:
Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board needs to be obtained within 2 years
Pharmacy Technician Certified (ExCPT) issued by the National Healthcareer Association needs to be obtained within 2 years
If working in WI: Registered as a Pharmacy Technician through Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, application must be submitted prior to start date
If working in IL: Registered as a Pharmacy Technician through Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, application must be submitted prior to start date with license obtained within 60 days of date of submission
High School Graduate
Typically requires 3 years of experience in pharmacy as a technician, with experience as a lead or senior level staff
Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities including organization, prioritization, decision making, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution
Advanced level knowledge of the advances in pharmaceutical practices and understanding of health care and retail pharmacy trends
Knowledge of pharmacy standards, policies, procedures, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations
Intermediate computer skills including the ability to navigate through a database and run reports
Proficient keyboarding skills and previous experience with Microsoft Office products, electronic mail and/or electronic health information records systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, take initiative, and to work effectively with providers, staff and patients
Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills including the ability to handle difficult situations
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
Must have fine motor manipulation of hands and wrists to use computer keyboard and to prepare syringes
Will be exposed to chemical hazards, so will be required to wear protective clothing as necessary
Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing
