Job Description

Supervises the daily activities of the Transport Scheduling and Planning team; ensures loads are scheduled for delivery and assigned to drivers or common carriers in accordance to store inventory levels and sales forecasts.

Requirements

  • Supervises, hires, trains, evaluates and motivates the Transport Scheduling and Planning team
  • directs the daily work of direct reports
  • Oversees the daily load plans and scheduling to ensure customer service levels are met
  • Collaborates with internal partners to ensure that inventory supply is managed and dispatched appropriately
  • plans deliveries based on store inventory levels and forecasted sales
  • Identifies root cause analysis in the event of an outage and completes outage protocol
  • provides timely communication of critical events
  • Maintains working knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • ensures drivers are in compliance
  • Identifies process changes to improve efficiency, effectiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Provides expertise at various meetings by attending and presenting data
  • Develops and presents reports regarding performance and financial impact
  • Creates and administers departmental operating expense budgets
  • Develops training programs for dispatchers on department policies and procedures
  • ensures proper completion and documentation of training
  • Ensures staff coverage 24 hours per day, seven days per week
  • Develops subordinates and recommends placement
  • conducts performance appraisals and recommends salary consideration
