Job Description

The Dewatering Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Dewatering Superintendent in overseeing the installation, commissioning and maintenance of water systems, dewatering systems, compressed air systems, water treatment plants, pipeline reticulation, both surface and underground. The project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervise teams to see the successful procurement, planning, installation, commissioning and maintenance of water, dewatering systems, compressed air systems, water treatment plants, pipeline reticulation for both surface and underground
  • Assist in overseeing the achievement of water balance across the project activities and processing plants
  • Supervise ongoing operations of all Dewatering and waste water treatment plants
  • Supervise all pipe installations and working with Tunnelling on their in critical areas

Requirements

  • Trade or Qualification in Mechanical or Equivalent ability
  • White Card
  • Driving License
  • Extensive experience in civil or tunnelling construction, typically 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience in basic use of Microsoft Office Suite, data and file recording.
  • Experience in Safety, Community and Environmental Management
  • Experience in Quality Management
  • Experience in Planning & Resourcing
  • Sound knowledge of local WHS standards and regulations
  • Ideally an understanding and exposure of Reverse Osmosis Plants
  • Ability to supervise team members, produce method statements and work closely with safety and other departments to control and maintain project safety standards
  • Demonstrate a positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams
  • Demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving skills
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of computers and Microsoft software packages.
  • Good communication skill, both oral and written
  • Self motivated.

  • Directs and manages the wastewater treatment operations and the energy utilization processes on a rotating shift at the Jones Island to ensure safe continuity of operations, the execution of proper technical procedures and management policies that result in cost-effective VW contract compliance and compliance with all applicable permits and regulations
  • Directs plant wastewater, bio solids and energy utilization and power generation processes on a rotating shift to ensure safe, cost effective and efficient operations to meet VW contract and all regulatory requirements
  • Maintains a sufficient staff of bargaining unit operating personnel on shift
  • and reports attendance on a day-today basis
  • Provides first line supervision to the shift personnel subordinates for equipment usage and processes
  • Monitors the Drying and Dewatering Facility for proper operation and product primarily during nights and weekends
  • Trains, coaches, lead the shift workers in safety training, on-the-job practices and execution of Standard Operating Procedures and process directives. Inspects facilities for cleanliness, housekeeping, and unsafe conditions and conducts investigation of safety incidents or accidents. Reports unsafe conditions and files reports on injuries
  • Administers management policies and directives, trains and evaluates subordinate staff including administering discipline as required
  • Provides recommendations for improving operations, cost reductions and energy savings
  • Optimizes the processes at the plants, within the process and technical limitations of the systems
