The Supervisor of Community Support Service will be responsible for the supervision and leadership of all programming, with direct oversight of the Community Support Services Coordinators. The Supervisor will be required to ensure benchmarks for quality care and productivity are met. The position assists the Community Services Director in the planning, organizing and delivery of all community support services. The supervisor's position monitors both clients and staff to ensure appropriate services are delivered. The position has responsibility for performance management of staff under their direction including performance appraisal, training and development, and if required, discipline.
Job Responsibility
Supervision and leadership of all programming, with direct oversight of the Community Support Services Coordinators
Ensure benchmarks for quality care and productivity are met
Assist the Community Services Director in the planning, organizing and delivery of all community support services
Monitor both clients and staff to ensure appropriate services are delivered
Performance management of staff under their direction including performance appraisal, training and development, and if required, discipline
Assist with the hiring, orientation, training, supervision, evaluation and discipline of the Community Support Services (CSS) staff
Oversee scheduling in accordance with appropriate collective agreements to ensure staffing is aligned to client and program needs
Accountable to ensure payroll submissions are provided on time and are accurate
Handle private and confidential information relating to staff illnesses, disciplinary procedures, grievances and labour relation issues
Ensure all Occupational Health & Safety requirements are met regarding inspections, required meetings, and minute taking
Support the day-to-day operations of the CSS Programs
Coordinate and support safe and timely transitions for patients discharged from hospital to home and community-based services
Assist with the development and evaluation of policies and procedures ensuring compliance with all legislated standards and regulations
Monitor and maintain data on Riverside CSS waitlist details
Conduct analysis and follow up of issues related to resident/client care, infection control, clinical quality and risk management programs
Provide support to residents/clients, caregivers, families by responding timely to request/concerns and problems
Liaison with community groups and agencies
Assist the Director of Community Services in the capital equipment budget
Account for petty cash fund and other monies received by the clients related to accounts receivables and general deposits
Oversee and be responsible for all CSS revenue collection and deposit
Maintain, prepare and distribute daily, weekly and monthly statistical information for OHaH contract services, Assisted Living, Hospital to Home, Meals on Wheels and Adult Day Programs
Participate in patient/client safety and risk management initiatives inclusive of investigating incidents with evaluation and trending of data
Perform duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and recognized professional, quality, patient safety, environmental and infection control standards
Requirements
Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario (RPN), OR Two-year post-secondary diploma in business administration, healthcare administration, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience as deemed appropriate by Riverside Healthcare Facilities Inc.
Minimum 3 years related experience in a healthcare setting, including experience in community environments
Experience with supervision of staff, scheduling of staff, day to day oversight, performance management, and labour relations preferred
Knowledge of budgeting, and financial management preferred
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Home and Community Care Support Services locally, regionally and provincially
High degree of proficiency using office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and email software
Knowledge and understanding of software applications specific to Home and Community Care and Hospital sector (i.e. Health Partners Gateway and AlayaCare) is an asset
Ability to problem solve, exercise good judgement, build effective relationships, work productively in a team environment
and demonstrate tact and diplomacy
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload in an office setting

Joint Health and Safety Committee certification is an asset and is required within one year of incumbent starting the position

Maintaining a valid Class 'G' Driver's license is a condition of employment due to frequent travel requirements within the Rainy River District
